2008 Honda Accord Sdn Overview The 2008 Honda Accord is offered in coupe and sedan forms, with three engine choices.   Accord LX sedans are equipped with a 177-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine.  The LX Sedan ($20,360) comes standard with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, power mirrors and door locks, variable intermittent wipers, tilt-and-telescoping steering column and illuminated wheel-mounted controls, folding rear seats, and an MP3/WMA/auxiliary input 160-watt sound system.  The LX-P Sedan ($21,360) is an LX with a premium package that adds alloy wheels, a power driver's seat, power windows, security system, and chrome tailpipe.

The 2008 Honda Accord has been completely redesigned and now is larger, faster and without suffering a reduction in fuel mileage making it the number 1 ranked affordable midsize car by Allcarguides.com. The Honda Accord is recognized by many reviewers as achieving the right balance between comfort and fun in this class. Changes in the 2008 model include: 3.2 inches longer, 1.1 inches wider, 0.9 inch taller, the wheelbase, at 110.2 inches, is 2.3 inches greater than the 2007 Honda Accord. Trunk space is also noted as large with 14 cubic feet of space. The additional exterior size translates into a larger interior with 0.7 extra inch of front headroom, 0.4 inch more rear legroom and 1.3 inches of additional front shoulder room. The Accord features more high strength steel to protect passenger, 48 percent compared to 39 percent in prior model. As noted by Detroit News, the Accord has more leg room than all its competitors including Camry, Altima and Staurn Aura. The exterior design features more pronounced styling with lots of creases and sharp edges and has some resemblance to a BMW as noted by Business Week among others. The Honda Accord sedan ha three engine choices; A energy saving 2.4-liter 4 cylinder 177 horsepower, a 4 cylinder 190-hp "high output" version, and most powerful in class 3.5-liter, 268-hp V6. The V6 gets from 0 to 60 in 7 seconds. The base model starts around $21,000 and reaches the low $30,000 when fully loaded. The sedan comes in 3 trims - LX, LX-P, EX and EX-L, while the coupe comes in LX-S, EX and EX-L trims. The sedan's LX-P includes 16-inch alloy wheels, auto up-down front windows and a power driver seat. The LX and LX-P sedans come with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that produces 177 hp and 161 pound-feet of torque. The coupe's base LX-S trim includes the LX-P's equipment (minus the passenger-side auto-up window and power driver seat) and adds an in-dash six-CD changer. An upgraded version of that 2.4-liter engine that makes a class-leading 190 hp is standard on the EX sedans and all coupes. The EX trim levels is a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 268 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque. The EX adds 17-inch wheels and a sunroof in both the sedan and coupe. The EX sedan gains the in-dash six-CD changer, while the EX coupe gets a premium stereo system with subwoofer. The EX-L adds leather upholstery, auto-on headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats and satellite radio. The EX-L sedan gains the premium stereo system, while the EX-L coupe gains the power driver seat.

Described by most reviewers as possessing very good handling, responsive steering that provides a tremendous. The 2008 Accord does the best job of remaining consistently competent across all driving conditions when compared to other cars in its class. . Steering was described as sure and firm with little body roll when cornering, all benefiting from Honda lowering of the Accord center of gravity by almost an inch.

In the 6 cylinder Accord, Honda introduces a new technology called cylinder-deactivation technology, where the engine is able to operate on six, four or three cylinders depending on driving conditions to achieve optimal fuel economy. Compared to prior version of the Honda Accord, this results in 3 mpg more on highways despite an increase in horsepower by 24. The Accord runs on regular gasoline and meets ULEV-2 and PZEV standards. A few reviewers, including Edmunds and Detroit News, noted that the center control panel has far too many buttons and can be confusing. As noted by CNET, some of the electronic gadgets are top notch including the navigation system and points-of-interest database.
